In 1952, John Wheelock Freeman and photographer Alexandre Georges made a field trip through England and Europe, visiting automobile factories and interviewing builders and designers. The results of that journey appeared in a small soft-covered book, Sports Car Album.
For the present all-new volume, the authors made a second European foray in 1954 and their intensive research has produced a comprehensive, up-to-the-minute report on the world's sports cars.

En 1952, John Wheelock Freeman y el fofógrafo Alexandre Georges hicieron un viaje a través de Inglaterra y Europa, visitando fábricas de automóviles y realizando entrevistas con constructores y diseñadores. El resultado de aquel viaje se publicó en un pequeño libro titulado Sports Car Album.
Para este nuevo libro, los autores viajaron nuevamente a Europa en 1954 y su investigación intensiva fructificó en un exhaustivo informe puesto al día sobre los coches deportivos más interesantes del mundo.
